There is no need for a specialist app or technical skills. All a visitor needs to do is point their smartphone camera at a QR code and they will be presented with an attractive display that is optimised for mobile phones. This can be used for video, audio, oral histories, self-guided tours and all manner of documents. You can even use it in awkward locations or outdoor spaces. The InfoAktiv Mobile service costs from just £120 per year. There are different tiers to support customers of all sizes. Within a tier, you can use your storage for an unlimited number of information points and QR codes. The information can be a combination of audio, video and PDF files. These can include links to web sites and email response links too.

Create your own displays or let us do it for you
Let us do everything for you
We will be delighted to set up your InfoAktiv Mobile displays. Just email or transfer your content to us. A typical audio point should take about an hour, for which we charge just £60. A video display may take an extra hour if the files need to be reformatted. We will always confirm the cost with you before starting work.
Manage everything in-house
It’s easy as 1-2-3 to set up your own InfoAktiv Mobile displays if you have access to some basic PC skills.
- Create suitably-sized PDF, MP3, MP4 and JPG files with the content you want to display.
- Zip them up in a folder and upload it to InfoAktiv Mobile.
- Generate and print a QR code.
Hey presto! – Your visitors can now view your display on their phones.

InfoAktiv Mobile is compatible with InfoAktiv TouchScreen. It uses the same repository which is a standard Windows folder. You can set your display folders up using InfoAktiv Content Manager or simply put your content and graphics files in a folder using the ordinary Windows File Explorer. Having done that, zip up your content folder and upload it to InfoAktiv.online. Check out the Instructions Page.
Your displays are moving from being secured in the gallery to being published on the internet, so you should not put anything on InfoAktiv Mobile that you wouldn’t put on your ordinary website. That includes material that you don’t want anyone taking a digital copy of, and copyright images that you don’t have the rights to publish online.
QR codes are having a major covid-fuelled resurgence now, having previously made a bit of a false start in parts of Europe and North America. The false start was mainly because users needed to download an app to use them, and sometimes because the codes weren’t well implemented. The most important difference today is that most smartphones come with QR code readers built-in, which makes them very easy and convenient to use.
Other lessons learned from the false start were:
- Don’t have too many codes for people to scan, fatigue is an issue when people are expected to scan constantly. Tip: Use the subfolders feature in InfoAktiv.online to sort your information into logical groupings without having to scan every item individually.
- Don’t leave signage in place if the QR codes on it point to ‘dead’ links.
There are still good options for using InfoAktiv Mobile. If you have public Wi-Fi, visitors can use that. We can also set up a dedicated network just for your site, like a mini internet, running your own local InfoAktiv Mobile server.
You can license the InfoAktiv Mobile host software to run on your own server. This could be on your own premises, at a hosting facility, managed by us, or managed by you. Whatever is right for you.
