InfoAktiv FAQs
COVID-19 Advice
Commercial touch screens are designed to be quite rugged and splash-proof. Generally you can clean them with anything you would use on a normal screen.
General Advice:
- • Switch off and unplug equipment before cleaning it.
- • Be reasonably gentle, some screens are more vulnerable than others:
- • ‘Resistive’ and ‘Surface Capacitive’ screens have sensors in front of the glass that can be permanently damaged if scratched.
- • ‘Surface Acoustic Wave’ and ‘Infrared’ touch sensors can be confused by a build-up of dirt around the edges.
- • ‘Projected Capacitive’ screens are the hardest to damage but they may become confused if cleaned while they are switched on.
- • All touch screens may become confused if they are switched back on before residual cleaning fluid has been dried or evaporated off.
- • 9 times out of 10, any confusion is cured by the age-old method of switching the screen off for a few minutes and then back on again.
Use
- • A soft cloth or screen wipes.
- • Foam cleaners or fluids such as gentle IPA (Isopropyl alcohol, not the beer) that are designed for IT equipment.
- • Apply the cleaner to the cloth rather than directly onto the screen.
Avoid
- • Anything abrasive
- • Cleaners that contain bleach, acid or ammonia.
- • Cleaners that leave a film of silicone.
- • Wiping gunk into the edges between the screen and any bezel.
As long as you’re gentle it’s hard to do any serious damage, but if in doubt, please give us a call. We’ll be happy to help.
With InfoAktiv systems it’s quite easy to just set them up as a looping display to show a video or PowerPoint presentation.
Here’s how:
- • Create the PowerPoint you want to show.
- ○ Tip: Before you start to create the presentation, make sure you set PowerPoint up for the correct type of screen, ‘widescreen’ (16:9) or ‘square screen’ (4:3).
- • Get the PowerPoint to your InfoAktiv system by your preferred means (USB stick, network transfer, etc.).
- • Go to the InfoAktiv management screen
- ○ From the ‘Appearance’ tab in the middle, select ‘Attractor Screen’.
- ○ Find, add and select the PowerPoint you created (You also have the option of using a video directly with InfoAktiv version 5).
- • Use the ‘Set Timeout’ button below the ‘Attractor Screen’ button to set the timeout to its minimum value of 10 seconds.
- • Now, when InfoAktiv runs it will launch into your PowerPoint display or video after 10 seconds.
- • It might be worth disabling touch on the system. If you have access to the PC, the simplest way to do that is to unplug the USB connector to the touch screen. – Just remember to put it back when you want to use touch!
- • If you’re not already using the features to switch InfoAktiv on and off automatically you might want to do that as well (It saves having to reconnect the touch screen or a keyboard).
If you have non-InfoAktiv systems we can still help you. There are other low cost solutions to achieve this, so please contact us if you would like to discuss them.

We use a variety of hardware; tabletop screens, tablets, free-standing ‘kiosk’ enclosures, or built-in screens, to tailor the touchscreens specifically to your installation’s requirements, whether you are looking for traditional, contemporary or mobile options.
This depends on whether you are looking for just hardware or software and whether you would like to buy a system outright or would like a site licence. Please call us to discuss the options.

There are many examples of how using an InfoAktiv system can help address individual project needs for instance: Using the InfoAktiv system will enable more interactivity and will engage visitors as well as locals. Our system has greater capability and depth than other virtual tour systems and can be repurposed at any time, for instance: when school groups visit to maximise learning opportunities. Being able to change the content is beneficial to ensure that repeat visitors can see something new, and the ease of update means that local volunteers and even school groups can be involved in community projects that add to the displays.
